"From Chef's Heart to Your Plate."

New Jersey is the home market. South Jersey is where most of the standing work happens. The Shore is where the rhythm of the year changes — summer entertaining, vacation home dining, bachelorette weekends along Seven Mile Island and Cape May. Chef Matts Culinary Creations runs both sides of the calendar from one operation, with the same standards across both.

    Two services. Two different jobs.

    Two Kinds of Chef Work

The terms get used interchangeably, so the distinction matters: a private chef is a working relationship — recurring meal prep, in-home dinners on a standing schedule, custom menus that calibrate to the household over time. A personal chef is event-based — one dinner party, one brunch, one weekend.

Most New Jersey clients arrive needing one or the other and not certain which. That gets sorted during the consultation.

For ongoing service, see private chef in New Jersey. For one-time work — dinner parties, brunches, cooking classes, bachelorette weekends — see personal chef in New Jersey.

    Service Areas Across New Jersey

South Jersey is the operating base. Williamstown, Cherry Hill, Haddonfield, Moorestown, Voorhees, Marlton, Medford, Washington Township, Mullica Hill, Collingswood — these are the towns where most weekly meal prep and standing in-home dining happens. See personal chef in South Jersey for the regional hub.

The Jersey Shore is its own season. Avalon, Stone Harbor, Cape May, Sea Isle, Ocean City, LBI — vacation rentals, summer entertaining, family weekends, and bachelorette parties. See private chef at the Jersey Shore for the regional hub, or jump directly to Avalon, Stone Harbor, or Cape May.

For in-home cooking classes across South Jersey — couples, families, small groups — see cooking classes in South Jersey.

    What Gets Cooked

Menus are built to the household and the season. Across New Jersey that tends to mean:

    • Local produce when the markets cooperate — Jersey corn and tomatoes through the summer, root vegetables through the fall
    • Seafood from Shore boats when they're running, especially fluke, scallops, and clams in season
    • Family-style or coursed plating depending on the night and the guest count
    • Multi-diet households handled routinely — one menu, multiple plates

    New Jersey FAQ

Do I need a private chef or a personal chef?

Private chef work is ongoing — built around recurrence. Personal chef work is event-based — one date, one menu. If you want dinner handled every week, that's private. If you want a chef for a specific evening, that's personal.

What parts of New Jersey are served?

South Jersey, the Jersey Shore (Avalon, Stone Harbor, Cape May, Sea Isle, Ocean City, LBI), and surrounding markets. Jersey City and Hoboken are not currently served.

    Do you travel between residences?

Standard. Most clients with a Shore home and a primary residence have one chef working both kitchens.

How far in advance should I book?

For one-time events, four to eight weeks is typical. For Shore weekends in summer, three to six months ahead is common.
